Summary: The vision of the Institute is to enable seamless integrated end-to-end simulation, design and optimization of high-power microwave weapons, to provide revolutionary capabilities to the Warfighter.

Detail: HPMI will facilitate the rapid development, acquisition, and fielding of effective high-power microwave weapon systems providing revolutionary capabilities to the Warfighter. The vision of the Institute is to enable seamless integrated end-to-end simulation, design and optimization of high-power microwave weapons, from subsystem to platform to desired effect.

HPMI weapons give the Warfighter revolutionary battlefield capability above and beyond traditional kinetic weapons: nonlethal, standoff, covert non-attributable attack, unlimited magazine, and ability to strike politically-sensitive targets with little to no collateral damage.

The envisioned environment enables a unified framework that integrates models of HPMI weapon system components (pulsed power, source, platform, antenna, propagation, effects) into a single system engineering tool for simulation, design, and optimization of weapon effectiveness, the prediction of collateral effects, and the mitigation of those effects on our own systems.
